Love Letter

2-6 Players~20 minBluffing

Love Letter is a quick card game of risk, deduction, and luck. Each round, players draw and play cards to try to eliminate opponents or finish with the highest-value card. With only 21 cards in the deck and simple rules, games move fast and stay exciting. Use the Guard to guess an opponent's hand, the Priest to peek at their card, or the Prince to force a discard. But beware the Princess — if you're forced to play her, you're out! Win rounds to earn tokens of affection. The first player to collect enough tokens wins the game. Perfect for quick sessions with friends — no signup or download needed.

Set up a Love Letter room

Choose Play Now, enter a name and create a room. Share its six-character code or invite link with your friends. GameWave supports 2–6 players; the host starts when everyone has joined. Each player needs their own browser view to keep their hand private.

How this version plays

This version uses 21 cards, including Spy and Chancellor. Draw one card, then play one of the two in your hand. Card effects can reveal, exchange or eliminate hands. The last player remaining wins the round; when the deck empties, the highest hand wins, with discard totals breaking tied hand values.

You must play the Countess when holding the King or Prince. Discarding the Princess eliminates you. A round win earns one token; the only surviving player who played a Spy also earns a bonus token.

How many tokens win?

The target is 7 tokens with 2 players, 5 with 3, 4 with 4, and 3 with 5 or 6. The app tracks cards, turns and tokens.

Can friends join without an account?

Yes. Open the invitation link or use Join Game with the room code and a player name. No download or account is needed.

Can I reconnect?

Reloading in the same browser can restore your session while the room still exists. Clearing browser storage or a server restart can prevent recovery.
